BCPBRA Championship Series

The BCPBRA's Championship Series is comprised of several local races, where championship points are awarded to each competitor, in each class. Provincial Champions in each class are determined by the total points accumulated by the competitors throughout the series.

Unlike many other racing series, the BCPBRA's family friendly competition philosophy provides for a fun and challenging experience at all BCPBRA events. Trophies are awarded to the top three finishers of every class at every race!

There are currently eight classes of competition:

  • Junior A - for kids under 14 on unmodified 40-49cc air-cooled bikes
  • Junior B - for kids under 14 on modified 40-49cc air-cooled bikes
  • Prod Air - No age/weight restriction on modified 40-49cc air-cooled bikes
  • Prod H2O - No age/weight restriction on unmodified 40cc water-cooled bikes
  • Senior A - 14+ years old on unmodified 40cc water-cooled bikes
  • Senior B - 16+ years old on modified 40cc water-cooled bikes
  • Masters - 16+ years old on open class, highly modified 50-53cc water-cooled bikes
  • Euro SS - 16+ years old on modified 40cc European water-cooled bikes
Riders are also categorized by weight as well as age in order to ensure fair competition by preserving the power-to-weight ratio of the machine and rider.

The BCPBRA has established a system under which a rider is awarded points for the position in which he/she finishes any competition sanctioned by the BCPBRA. At the close of the racing season, the rider in each class with the highest number of points as defined in the official rules shall be declared Champion for the specific class concerned. Only BCPBRA licensed riders are eligible to accumulate Championship Points or Awards.

Awarding of points at each race:

  • In order to qualify as a finisher, a competitor must complete not less than 50% of the number of laps completed by the class winner and receive the checkered flag. If there are an odd number of laps, round to the next higher number.
  • Riders who start a race but do not finish as per above, are considered as a Did Not Finish (DNF).
  • Riders who pass technical inspection, but do not compete in a race are considered as a Did Not Start (DNS).
  • If there is only one (1) rider in class, the competitor must complete not less than 50% of the number of laps completed by the overall race winner to receive first place trophy and points.
